Volunteering / Staffing Opportunities

The Fresh Food Revolution Co-op is run entirely by the Member/Owners volunteering their time; there are no paid staff. We have weekly shifts, during the FFR Co-op pick-up, at-home data entry projects, social media options, committee work, vendor support, and other opportunities for Member/Owners to contribute to the sustainability of the Fresh Food Revolution Co-op.

Currently, we are seeking commitments from member/owners for the following "Core Volunteer" positions:

WEEKLY SHIFTS
Ideally, we'd like to schedule a consistent staff of member/owners for these positions, potentially, in regular rotations, such as 1st Wednesday each month, or, for whole months in rotation with other member/owners.

Set-up / Sorting: Set-up kitchen for order sorting, help sort items into members' bins, weigh and bag produce, set up pick-up room with tables, chairs, signage, and shelf stable "in stock" items. (1 hour shift) Training provided.

Kitchen Assistant: Confirm member invoices are marked PAID, retrieve bin(s) and ordered items, meet member at the Packing Table and verify order items as member packs up. Return bin(s) to kitchen, help sanitize and store bins. (1 hour shift) Training provided.

Cashier:  Hand out customers' pre-order invoices for day-of sales additions, hand out day-of sales sheets, double check day-of notations for variety and clarity, accept payment for all orders, note payment type, amount, and initial paperwork. Requires counting in & out of register till, signing reconciliation paperwork, math skills. (1 hour shift) Training provided.

Distribution ManagerOversee operations on the day-of FFR Co-op pick up, train new volunteers, ensure all rental, safety & health regulations are followed; communicate with Volunteer Coordinator & FFR Admin. 2-4 hours/week depending on season; rotate with other Distribution Managers.
This position requires good people skills, some math, implementation of FFR policies and procedures; recommended experience: day-of pick-up volunteering, such as Kitchen Assistant. Training provided.


BEHIND-THE-SCENES

Girl Friday: great for stay-at-home Moms or retired folks!  Help field inquiries from members and producers, behind the scenes logistics, communicating with Volunteer Coordinator, moving orders in system, other small projects as needed. 1-2 hours/week.
This position requires good people skills, data entry, implementation of FFR policies and procedures; Ideally, this person has availability during the week, primarily on Tuesdays for pre-pick-up projects. Recommended experience: day-of pick-up volunteering, such as Kitchen Assistant. Training provided.

Inventory Specialist: Help maintain the accounts with FFR Co-op's wholesale producers, track and update Member orders, wholesale invoicing. Regular interaction with System Administrator, communicate with wholesale producers. 1-2 hours/month.
This position requires a computer and access to the internet, 2 hour training, implementation of FFR policies and procedures; recommended experience: day-of pick-up volunteering, such as Kitchen Assistant. Training provided.


Member Account Specialist: research inquiries from members regarding invoicing, credits, and charges, communicate with members about results of inquiry, update account information as needed to resolves accounting questions. On-call availability; approximately 1-2 hours per month. Seeking 1-2 people, more as membership grows.
This position requires computer access, bookkeeping knowledge, ability to work with a variety of people, excellent communication skills (writing, listening), and familiarity with the FFR Co-op software. Training provided.

Membership Coordinator: process new membership applications, print and distribute membership cards, maintain accurate membership records, develop & manage systems for member education, develop membership materials, solicit member/owner worker feedback on training. (1-2 hours/month)
This position requires the ability to work with a variety of people, excellent communication skills (writing, listening), and familiarity with the FFR Co-op organizational structure, policies, and goals. Training provided.

Membership Support: Assist Membership Coordinator with providing services to the Member/Owners. Receive calls from Member/Owners without computer access to place FFR Co-op orders during ordering period, touch base with inactive Member/Owners periodically, other support as determined/needed. (1-2 hours/month).
This position requires a computer and access to the internet, 2 hour training, implementation of FFR policies and procedures. Training provided.

Order Adjuster(s): take home FFR invoices after day-of pick-up, enters order adjustments, day-of purchases, and payments into software system. 1-2 hours/week; rotate with other Order Adjusters. Seeking 2-3 people. **Training to be scheduled pending one other interested Member**
This position requires a computer and access to the internet, 2 hour training, implementation of FFR policies and procedures; recommended experience: day-of pick-up volunteering, such as Kitchen Assistant. Training provided.

Producer System Assistant: assist specific FFR Producers without internet access to get their weekly availability entered into the FFR system, and give them their orders each week. Approximately 1 hr/week/producer. Currently, seeking support for Morgan Creek Farm.
This position is best for folks with computer/data entry skills; availability by phone required on Saturday (enter products into the system), Sunday (call with preliminary orders), and Monday (updated orders) evenings, and Tuesday mornings (final list of orders). Recommended experience: day-of pick-up volunteering, such as Kitchen Assistant or Cashier. Training provided.

Vendor Support Specialist: assist vendors navigating the software system, categorize new products, review and help maintain database of products.  1-2 hours/week; rotate with other Vendor Support Specialists. Seeking 2-3 people.
This position is best for folks with computer/data entry skills and database knowledge; access to email over rotating weekends required. Recommended experience: day-of pick-up volunteering, such as Kitchen Assistant. Training provided.

Volunteer Coordinator: email Members about volunteering opportunities and hours earned, track volunteer hours, collaborate on creating volunteer training protocols and policy, develop and implement recognition for member/owner volunteers, recruit and motivate volunteers. (2-4 hours/month)
This position requires the ability to work with a variety of people, excellent communication skills (writing, listening), and familiarity with the FFR Co-op organizational structure, policies, and goals. Training provided.

Web Designer: do you have mad web design skills? We'd love to update the website and make it more accessible, chock full of information and pictures, etc. Commit to 2 hours a month, and get your membership fee reimbursed at the end of the year... how cool is that? 
This position is best for folks with website maintenance and design experience and writing HTML.Training provided.

Blogger: Do you love sharing your knowledge about local food, farming, ranching, eating healthfully, recipes, food policy, homesteading, sustainability, permaculture, etc.? Do you already write a blog about such things that you'd like to share with the FFR Co-op members and followers? Help us develop a stronger blog presence, have fun sharing your passions, and earn a Volunteer Incentive credit. We also have a Pinterest account that could use some TLC.

This position is best for folks with blogging experience, or, just a passion for writing and sharing knowledge.Our blog is hosted on Wordpress. Training provided.


COMMITTEES
Special Event Planning: plan and host movie nights, game nights, tasting days, education events, open houses, etc. Meeting and event coordination time counts towards volunteer requirement. Requires email access, some in-person meetings.

Policy Manual: gathering current FFR Co-op Board approved policies, job descriptions, and operational information for archiving. Work with FFR Co-op Board and Members/Owners to develop additional policies and standard operational procedures. Meeting and data gathering time counts towards volunteer requirement. Requires email access, some in-person meetings.


OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Education & outreach, photography, videography, etc. If member/owners have a skill or idea to share, we welcome the contribution!
